Professor Ji-Dong Gu is working at the School of Biological Sciences, Kadoorie Biological Sciences Building, The University of Hong Kong, Pokfulam Road, Hong Kong SAR, P.R. China. His primary research interests include as microbial metabolism of toxic organic pollutants and transformation of metals; molecular ecology of new microorganisms (e.g., anaerobic ammomium oxidation bacteria, ammonia-oxidizing archaea, anaerobic methane oxidizing bacteria and archaea) in carbon and nitrogen cycles; microbial biofilms including the mechanisms of initial interactions between bacteria and surfaces of natural or artificial materials; petroleum oilfield microbiology an new biotechnology for energy recovery; and environmental toxicology of endocrine-disrupting chemicals and their effects. Hi is now teaching some courses such as Environmental Toxicology; Environmental Microbiology; Pollution and remediation.
